Empowering Growth Through Creative Expression.

The Heart behind the Art

Hello, my fellow creative. Thank you for stopping by.

My name is Jannette. I am an Afro-Caribbean islander learning to live life in the Midwest, for almost two decades now. Among my current roles as a Wife, Mother, and a Marriage & Family Therapist … I am also a Maker.  A true lover of vibrant colors, mediums and textures, with a relentless passion to share with others, the incredibly healing balm of creativity.

I hope that as you browse this site, you can find inspiration to explore your own creative process, and maybe experience a spark of fresh ideas that invite you to be curious, playful , and to give yourself permission to express your heart, in the way that feels most authentic to you.

Creative Healing Expressions, exists to make creative play accessible as a tool for emotional expression and self-awareness, to anyone journeying towards healing and seeking to connect with self and others.

Imagination, curiosity and play are considered foundational skills to human development and human flourishing. However, in this digital era as our technological advances have evolved, we see that creative play (in its purest form) is also shifting from a rich and embodied experience, to a more digitized concept that does not necessarily foster deep human connection.

As someone that has experienced at a personal level the healing power of community, faith and the creative process amidst various seasons of difficulty, grief, and suffering; I have a deep desire to make this experience accessible to other fellow humans. It has truly become a joy and a mission to me, to provide a space where people can gather and enjoy a sacred time connecting, playing and creating.

I do this by facilitating creative play groups at a variety of social events,  gatherings and organizations. These are often paired with psycho education, mental and relational health awareness workshops and/or support groups.

I get to partner with various non-profits in other States and even overseas, to support teachers, ministries, first responders, families impacted by intellectual and physical disability and marginalized communities.

It is a joy to be able to use my lived experience and knowledge, in ways that can contribute to move us from surviving, to thriving.

Very grateful for you, and cheering you on, as you heal.
